Navan, Tralee, Clare and Monaghan Education Centres are holding an information webinar
for any teachers or schools interested in taking part in this new and innovative project,
Make a Movie: Home Project 2020.
The aim of this practical project is to introduce and promote filmmaking through schools for
students at home and to provide students with an opportunity to engage with learning in a fun
and creative way.
Filmmaking is an excellent way to integrate multiple subjects from the primary curriculum. It
offers a novel opportunity to enhance the use of oral language and communication skills,
while also promoting creativity, responsibility, individualism and co-operation in students,
either in a mainstream classroom or special education setting at home. Participating in this
project is a fun and innovative way to enable children to learn in a child-led, discovery-based
learning setting. It also offers an excellent assessment tool for teachers as pupils can record
their progress and follow the step by step pre-recorded tutorials.
The information webinar will introduce all aspects of the filmmaking process to schools
facilitating distance learning, outlining the simple and effective use of filmmaking and
providing clear examples of what may be achieved through the process. The advantages of
the project will be explained to teachers as well as an overview of the lessons provided for
classes and schools.
