RSE SEMINAR-THE EDUCATION CENTRE TRALEE 22ND NOV

PDST are offering new RSE full-day seminars this term. The focus of the seminar will be primarily on teaching the sensitive elements of RSE from Infants to Sixth class, in the context of Social, Personal and Health Education. The course will be experiential and practical in its approach.

The seminar will include:

  • An overview of RSE as a core component ofSPHE
  • The role and function of an RSEpolicy
  • Methodologies for teachingRSE
  • Creating a safe classroomenvironment

Participants are asked to bring along their own copies of the four RSE books entitled “Resource Materials for Relationships & Sexuality Education”, which are available to download from http://www.pdst.ie/node/811 or purchase from https://www.laoisedcentre.ie/pdstpublications/

You are invited to nominate one or two teachers from your school to attend this seminar. The Department of Education and Skills will provide substitute cover where required. The groups will be limited to 24 participants and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Izak9consists of 27 brightly coloured cubes, with each face being populated with different combinations of colour, number and shape. These cubes come accompanied with a suite of online tasks. The tasks are aimed specifically at the "Maths skills development" section of the curriculum - problem solving, integration, critical thinking ,collaboration etc. 

Children work in teams using the physical cubes to solve the tasks from the whiteboard at the front of the room.

The learning is fun, engaging and rewarding with all children getting the opportunity to participate actively in every task as can be seen from following the video sequences on this page

ASD Teachers Support Group Meeting 1st October 2018

Musician, Broadcaster, Author, Trainer & Consultant in Autism, Robyn Steward, will address the group from the perspective of an adult living with autism. A speaker at this year’s Cork Autism Conference, she has worked in many schools and will answer questions we may have regarding our classroom practice.

It will also be an opportunity to re-start our previously successful ASD Teachers Support Group on an initial bi-annual basis.
