Target Audience: Early Years Educators, Special Needs Assistants, Primary Teachers, Post Primary Teachers and Parents
This taster session will focus on the topic of gender. Our understanding of gender is constantly evolving, so this session will provide an opportunity to explore the concept from different perspectives. Additionally, we will consider heteronormativity, toxic masculinity and the current practices in the field of education. Our ultimate objective is to cultivate professional skills that recognise the uniqueness of each individual and promote human rights and equality.
Bio of Presenter: Dr Kate Stapleton

Dr Kate Stapleton is a lecturer in Education in MIC, St. Patrick's Campus, Thurles. She teaches modules on diversity and inclusion, research methods, and dissertation. Her current research is focused on the African philosophy of Ubuntu "I am because we are", or "humanity towards others". Her research projects are funded by the Irish Research Council, Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission and SCoTENS.
