Using Evidence-Based, Inclusive Strategies to Effectively Promote
Oral Reading Fluency for Children with Literacy
Difficulties/Dyslexia - A Series of Webinars run by DSI Specialists

Date :     Wednesday, 21st February 2024
Time :     7.00pm - 8.00pm
Venue :   Online via Zoom

Target Audience : This webinar is for all mainstream and SET primary teachers who wish to have a comprehensive understanding of Reading Fluency and how it can be taught to children explicitly – in a way that not only supports students with literacy difficulties but all students in our classrooms in a truly inclusive way.

In this webinar, Emma and Caitríona will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the components of Oral Reading Fluency. They will discuss the pivotal role that Explicit Instruction has in relation to Reading Fluency for all children, including children with literacy difficulties/dyslexia. They will reflect on the current research on this subject and present you with evidence-based approaches/strategies that promote fluency in an Inclusive Context - keeping in mind that methods used to support our learners with literacy difficulties will benefit all learners.

Participants will also receive a bank of key resources and assessments so that any content discussed in this webinar can be brought back to their own educational settings and implemented immediately and effectively to assess Reading Fluency and support the explicit teaching of the skills involved in becoming a skilled fluent reader.
