Target Audience: Primary and Post Primary Teachers

Session 1 - Curriculum Design and Lesson Planning: Monday, 8th January 2024 @ 7pm
This session will focus on a range of strategies to promote collaborative curriculum design and lesson planning as well as ensuring consistency amongst colleagues. The fundamental principles of evidence informed curriculum design will be explored with practical ideas for efficient and effective lesson planning.

Session 2 - Low Effort, High Impact Teaching TechniquesMonday, 15th January 2024 @ 7pm
 This will be a very practical session sharing a range of evidence informed techniques, ideas and resources that are 'low effort' in terms of time, energy and planning for the teacher but have a 'high impact' on student learning. There will be a range of examples for different ages and subjects.

Session 3 - Feedback Strategies To Support WorkloadMonday, 22nd January 2024 @ 7pm
This session will explore the research and evidence based around effective feedback to move learners forward. This will be followed by an exploration of strategies such as whole class feedback, peer assessment, self assessment and live marking approaches.

Session 4 - Using Technology To Support Workload: Monday, 29th January 2024 @ 7pm
The final session will look at a range of online tools, websites and apps that can be used inside and outside of the classroom to support teacher workload ranging from lesson planning, task design and feedback.

 

Bio of Presenter: Kate Jones

Kate Jones is an experienced classroom teacher, leader and Senior Associate for Teaching and Learning with Evidence Based Education. Originally from Wales in the UK, Kate spent five years teaching in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates but is now based back home in the UK. In addition to her teaching and leadership roles Kate is the author of seven books published with John Catt Educational; including the Retrieval Practice series and Formative Assessment Strategies In Action. In 2023, the eighth book by Kate will be published, entitled Smashing Glass Ceilings: Empowering Women in Education. Kate is also the editor for the researchEd Guide to Cognitive Science. Kate is also a regular writer for the TES and HWRK magazines. She has spoken at various educational events and conferences around the world including Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Middle East and Europe. Kate has collaborated with leading figures in education such as Dylan Wiliam, Doug Lemov and Professor Robert Bjork. Kate is very active on social media via Twitter and Instagram @KateJones_Teach. Winston's Wish is a registered charity supporting young children with bereavement and Kate is very proud to be an ambassador for this charity.
