Webinar 1: Teaching Job Applications, Contracts and Interviews - Wednesday, 24th May @ 4pm
The aim of this webinar is to provide early career teachers with the necessary information to support them in securing a teaching position and beginning their teaching career with confidence. To begin, this webinar aims to support newly qualified teachers beginning their career, with a key focus on the application and interview process for teaching positions in Ireland. The aim is to enable early career teachers to feel prepared and confident as they apply for these positions.

• Prepare for a teaching interview in Ireland through engaging with relevant DE policies and documents
• Differentiate between various teaching contracts when applying for jobs in Ireland
• Understand the role of the main panel and supplementary panel of teaching positions, as well as eligibility for both

Webinar 2: Engaging in the Droichead Process - Wednesday, 6th September @ 4pm
The aim of this webinar is to provide early career teachers with the necessary information to support them with engaging in the Droichead process.

• Understand what the Droichead process is and how NQTs effectively engage with this process
• Understand the role that Droichead plays in the initial stages of their career and the role Cosán plays in continuing professional development as their career progresses
• Examin specific aspects of the Droichead process such as observations, working with the PST and portfolio-based learning

Webinar 3: Preparing for a New Class as an NQT - Wednesday, 13th September @ 4pm
This webinar will support you in preparing for a new class as an NQT. Topics such as planning, creating a timetable, classroom management and organisation will be explored. Both short-term planning and long-term planning are addressed. The creation of a weekly teaching timetable is also outlined. Following this, some useful tips and tricks for teachers to know at the start of a new school year are addressed. We will explore classroom management, with a focus on rewards, consequences as well as an overview of restorative practice. Furthermore, specific behaviour management strategies will be discussed, understand the importance of effective planning and its positive impact on teaching and learning in the classroom

• Engage effectively with short and long-term planning in a mainstream classroom setting
• Create a timetable in a mainstream classroom taking into consideration specific DES allocation times
• Approach the first day, week and month of school with confidence with a specific focus on preparing the learning environment, teaching preparation and practices, assessment tools and classroom procedures.
• Ensure the smooth transition into a new academic year for both the children and teacher
• Explore classroom management and behaviour management techniques with specific reference to DE documents and policies in this area
• Examine the role of restorative practice in effective behaviour management

Bio of Presenters: Aoife O'Sullivan & Aisling Barrett

Aoife and Aisling are teachers who completed the B.Ed in Education and Psychology in Mary I. They currently have 9 years teaching experience across a wide range of classes from Junior Infants to Sixth Class as well as in the Special Education setting. Both Aoife and Aisling completed a M.Ed in Special Educational Needs in Trinity College with a focus on reading difficulties. Aoife is an assistant principal and has had this position of management in her school for five years. Aisling is a member of the Oide Droichead Induction Associate Panel. Both teachers currently teach 5th class in their respective schools in Dublin and Cork.
