Killaclohane Portal Tomb near Milltown in mid Kerry is the oldest man-made monument in the county dating to c. 3800 BC. It was built by Kerry’s first farmers nearly 6000 years ago. The tomb was recently excavated and restored, and many artefacts including stone arrow heads and pottery, were found during the dig. These objects are now in the Kerry County Museum. The archaeology of this mysterious Stone Age Tomb offer us an exciting glimpse into the life of our Stone Age ancestors. In this webinar Claudia will explore what life was like back then with a special emphasis on children in the Stone Age. Claudia will also talk about how and why these tombs were built and how pottery and flint artefacts were made.
