Session 1 - Introduction to Scratch

Learn what Scratch is, how it works and some easy ways that you can get your students up and running with it. This will include a look at all of the functionality of Scratch which will help make for any of the other sessions.

Session 2 - Scratch and Maths

Learn how to create maths lessons using Scratch. Discover how children can learn and use maths through skills and activities in Scratch. Identify mehtods and strategies to incorporate Scratch into your classroom.

 

Session 3 - Scratch and English/Irish

Date:      Tuesday 2 November 2021
Time:      3.15 pm - 4.15 pm
Venue:   Online via Zoom

Learn how to create and develop stories in Scratch by adding text and audio to create dialogue. Examine how Scratch can be used to teach and facilitate genre writing. Identify further strategies to incorporate Scratch inot the language curriculums.

Session 4 - Scratch and the Curriculum

Date:      Wednesday 3 November 2021
Time:      3.15 pm - 4.15 pm
Venue:   Online via Zoom

Learn how Scratch can be used across other subjects. We will use Scratch to code a dance routine, to create a breathing exercise and to create a piece of music.

 

Sessions are suitable for all primary teachers. No previous experience is required.
