This brilliant 3-part workshop will discuss how anxiety presents with children and young people with Autism/ASD, and how to treat it effectively. Interventions discussed will incorporate strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – i.e., gradual exposure, cognitive restructuring, and psychoeducation – as well as strategies from Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)/ Positive Behavior Support (PBS) (e.g., positive reinforcement, antecedent-based/prevention strategies such as visual supports). We will discuss how these interventions that were originally applied with neurotypical children can be modified for children and young people with Autism.

• How to treat anxiety in more cognitively able young people with Autism using CBT

Workshop 3 – Tuesday Nov 16th 2021 at 7pm

• A greater understanding of positive behaviour support
• Several prevention and teaching/replacement strategies from Positive Behavior Support
• How to treat anxiety in more cognitively able young people with Autism using positive behaviour support 
  •  Regardless of cognitive ability.
