24TRA292 Teaching About Climate Change in School

24TRA292 Teaching About Climate Change in School

Date:      Wednesday, 10th April 2024
Time:      7 - 8 pm
Venue:   Online via Zoom

Target Audience: Early Years Educators, Primary and Post Primary Teachers

Climate change caused by global warming is already transforming life on Earth.  It is the defining challenge of our time, the most significant issue facing all citizens today. Evidence of climate change is compelling. There is widespread consensus amongst the international scientific community that human induced climate change is happening. According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change greenhouse gas emissions from human activities driving climate change are now at their highest levels in history. Without action, the world's average surface temperature is projected to rise over the 21st century and is likely to surpass 3ºC this century-with some areas of the world expected to warm even more. The purpose of this session is to introduce educators to climate change education through a pedagogy of possibility and hope. The session will showcase resources which are available and will include some take away activities for all educators.
