This webinar will be helpful to JC English teachers who are looking for ideas on how to support students to become more discerning viewers and foster an appreciation for the various techniques deployed in visual media. Ideas will be shared for introducing film in first year and building up to the studied text. There will also be ideas for extension writing exercises provided.

Lorraine Dillon is an English teacher at The Abbey Vocational School in Donegal Town, where she has taught HL English for many years.  With an additional background in SET, she has designed and delivered seminars for the SESS, Donegal ETB, DCU Summer School, the SDPI, LDS, and St. Angela's College. She also presented a guest slot on a webinar on The Handmaid's Tale hosted by Dr. Kate Jones.
