Date: 07th April 2022
Time: 3.30p.m - 4.30p.m
Venue: Online Via Zoom
This session will hear the experiences and practical perspectives of welcoming refugee children into our schools. It is hoped that these experiences will raise awareness and provide practical information to School Leaders and Staff to assist them in welcoming refugee children from Ukraine in the coming weeks.
Peter Walsh, Principal of St Conaire's NS, Shannon and Brian Carty, Principal of Lisdoonvarna NS will speak about their experiences of enrolling and welcoming children fleeing from Ukraine.
Jillian Bridge and Antoinette Loftus from Holy Family Senior School in Ennis will speak about their experiences of integrating newly arrived children into the school.
MJ Malone will speak about his experience of supporting refugees from Georgia in his former role as Principal of Lisdoonvarna NS. MJ has a unique perspective of having previously gone through the process of welcoming and integrating a large number of refugees into the school.
This webinar has been organised in conjunction with the Learning and Development subgroup of the Clare Children and Young People's Services Committee. The webinar seeks to complement the many supports being provided by Government and voluntary agencies.
