The Brave and the Bold - a webinar for Senior Classes in Primary Schools how War of Independence was fought in County Clare

The Brave and the Bold is based on the War of Independence in Clare. This webinar is delivered by Brian Spring and aims to give children a greater understanding of how War of Independence was fought in County Clare. The webinar is based upon a Resource Pack which has been designed by Brian through the Decade of Centenaries Initiative. The webinar and resource pack centres on the belief that local history is important and that a knowledge of it helps in understanding events at a National level.  There is a strong emphasis on visual as well as documentary evidence and on the skills of working as an historian. The causes as well as the main events from the beginning of the War up until the Truce are covered. Pupils’ activities form the core of the Resource Pack. In this webinar for senior classes, Brian will guide you through the Resource Pack, provide insights for pupils into this significant period of our history and make suggestions for the creation of a Handling Box based on the period.
