20TRA470 Behaviour Management for Mainstream Primary Teachers: ADHD and Environmental Audits

The goal of this webinar is to present a double lens for mainstream primary teachers to view behavior management in their classes for children with a diagnosis of ADHD. First, a rubric for auditing the teaching-learning environment will be presented with examples of aspects teachers can change or modify. Second, a set of clusters of characteristics that pertain to children with ADHD are presented as a guide for teachers showing what can be expected as part of that diagnosis. Finally, a case of a child with ADHD is examined in detail to show how both lenses (environmental audits and understanding key features of a diagnosis) can clarify behavior for teachers and support their selection of small and practical interventions. Several examples of these are provided.
