26TRA319 LAI - Seeing the Scéal: Visual Literacy through English agus Gaeilge
Date: Tuesday, 5th May 2026
Time: 7.00 - 8.00 pm
Venue: Online via Zoom
Target Audience: Primary and Post Primary Teachers
Visual literacy is the ability to interpret, make meaning from, and create visual images. It’s about seeing the scéal - understanding how pictures communicate, just as words do - and using that understanding to think critically and creatively, and to express ourselves more deeply.
In this webinar, Emma Farragher and Claire Dunne will explore ways of maximising the potential of visual texts and nurturing children’s competencies in communication and creativity through both English and Gaeilge. Together, they will consider how visual storytelling, picturebooks, and classroom dialogue can enrich learners’ engagement with language and meaning.
This session will be of particular interest to primary and post-primary teachers who wish to deepen their understanding of visual literacy, bilingual learning, and creative communication.
