Very useful for wellbeing/CSPE/SPHE teachers
DESCRIPTION Let’s reconnect with nature by learning more about the wildlife around us and then
bring it back to our classrooms. Many students and adults find it difficult to identify
common wildflowers, trees, birds and mammals. We want to address this. At the end
of the year we want you and your students to be able to identify at least 30 living
things and know a little more about them. When you learn a new word, you start to
see it everywhere. We are hoping that by learning the names of these living things the
students will see them and have a little more appreciation for them.
We are meeting on Mondays every week at 4pm for 15mins. We will provide you with a
set of resources on one living thing. Perhaps a plant, a mammal, an insect, or a bird.
You will be invited to teach your class (es) about that living thing once a week. At the
end of each term we will hold a fun quiz.
