Target Audience: Primary 

This webinar will provide practical advice on how to plan high quality literacy instruction in line with the requirements of the Preparation for Teaching and Learning guidance adopted in primary schools. It will also examine the use of the Primary Language Curriculum as a tool for short and long term planning. Join us for a deep dive on the why and up-to-date guidance on the how of planning, as we start the new school year.

Presenters:

Maureen Colleran  is an Executive Committee Member of the Literacy Association of Ireland and Assistant Lecturer in Creative and Digital Technologies in Marino Institute of Education. Previously, Maureen taught all classes at primary level and worked as a Primary Literacy Advisor with the PDST before taking up the position as Administrative Principal of Scoil Nioclás Naofa, Dunmore, Co Galway.

Dr Patrick Burke is the President of the Literacy Association of Ireland. A former primary school teacher, he now works as an Assistant Professor in the School of Language, Literacy and Early Childhood Education at Dublin City University. He also serves as Chairperson of the NCCA Primary Language Development Group.
