The webinar will explore a personal approach used to teach the Teanga ó Bhéal, Léitheoireacht agus Scríbhneoireacht strands of the Primary Language Curriculum in a linguistically diverse classroom.
The webinar will explore ideas about how we can motivate and encourage children to develop their Irish language skills and progress their learning at their own pace. It will also focus on how we can help children make connections across and within languages.
Bio Of Presenter: Dr. Yvonne Fahy
Dr. Yvonne Fahy is a primary teacher and has been teaching for the past 15 years in an all-boys primary school in Co. Tipperary. The majority of this time has been spent teaching the senior classes. Prior to a career in teaching she worked in the pharmaceutical industry.
During ‘Lockdown’ she wrote an Irish reference book titled ‘Ar Aghaidh Leat!’. This is a bilingual reference resource that can be used by teachers to plan and differentiate their Irish lessons in a classroom where children come to school with very different experiences of language.
