In this webinar, we will explore how to support our older students’ writing through the use of writing crafts. Using the
writing workshop model, we will show how writers can hone their craft when opening stories, showing how characters
are feeling, slowing down the action etc. We will consider the different structure of informational text and the
importance of audience and purpose when making decisions. Participants will receive a digital resource pack with
materials to support classroom instruction.

Bio of presenter: Dr Treasa Bowe 

Dr Treasa Bowe is a primary school teacher from Cork with over 22 years teaching experience- 17 years in Scoil
Oilibhéir, Cork and the last four years teaching in Endeavor College Prep, Los Angeles, California. Her many
achievements include: Helping to develop Comprehension Strategy Instruction (CSI) and Building Bridges of Understanding programme;  Her PhD research focusing on the role of on-site continuing professional developing in promoting a whole school approach to CSI; and her world famous Instagram page: @betweenthecoversofagoodbook , where she shares her extensive knowledge about literacy, and picture books on a daily basis.
