This webinar will look at how to incorporate the crucial skill of phonemic awareness into existing phonics instruction and will include practical classroom examples that can be immediately implemented by teachers.  This session is suitable for junior infant – 2nd class teachers as well as SET teachers.  

Bio of Presenter: Dr Jennifer O' Sullivan

MADELEINE Ní GHALLCHOBHAIR

Dr Jennifer O’Sullivan is a lecturer in literacy in Marino Institute of Education and she is the current president of the Literacy Association of Ireland. She has co-authored the phonics programme Sounds Like Phonics and is the author of the phonological awareness programme A Sound Beginning for Reading. She is also co-creator of the YouTube channel The Literacy Channel. Her doctoral studies focused on the effectiveness of a phonological awareness programme in junior infants in a DEIS Band 1 school.
