With the introduction of the Junior Cycle Specifications, the focus this year is on planning, teaching and assessment practises which support the principles underpinning the new Junior Cycle. All the sessions are geared to presenting practical ideas for the classroom and will be accompanied by ready to use resources.
Biographical Note on Presenter: Edmond Hussey is a Geography teacher in Christian Brothers College (CBC Cork). Edmond has over 17 years of teaching experience and is an active member of Cork Geography Teachers Association. A graduate of Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, Edmond was awarded a B.A in Liberal Arts in the Subject areas of Geography, Media and Communications. Committed to continuous development in 2012, he received First Class Masters of Education from UCC. In addition, he was amongst the first cohort to graduate in the Toraíocht (Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership) program run by NUIM. An active advocate for use of Mobile Tablet Devices as a learning tool, in particular the use of Digital Learning Platforms in Geography pedagogy. Previously he was on secondment to the PDST as an advisor, Edmond pioneered, facilitated and supported schools in the development and delivery of Politics and Society as Leaving Certificate Subject. Edmond was a consultant author on Geography Now! The Educational Company of Ireland new Junior Cycle Textbook.
