The Comparative Study is one of the more difficult components of Leaving Certificate English. In this session, Claire will share useful strategies and tips to help teachers and students alike to fully grasp the complexities of the Comparative, including:
-A tried and tested structure that can be easily communicated to students, learned and used across all modes
-A simple explanation of each mode which can be taught to students
-Suggested comparative texts that work well with different modes and headings under which they can be compared
-A breakdown of both types of question that appear on the Leaving Certificate paper
Bio of Presenter: Claire Cotter

Claire Cotter is an English and History Teacher in Christian Brothers College, Cork. She also works as the school's SEN Coordinator. Claire holds a Masters Degree in International Relations from the School of History in UCC. She co-hosts a successful weekly podcast called 'What's the History?'. Claire has over twelve years experience teaching English and history at Junior and Senior Cycle.
