Time:     7pm - 8pm
Venue:  Online via Zoom

Target Audience: Primary Special Needs Assistants

This four-week course is both a refresher for those who have Irish but may not have used it in a while, and an introduction to oral Irish for non-Irish speakers.

The emphasis is not on grammar or written Irish: the course is based on oral Irish used in a primary school or primary Gaelscoil setting.

It aims to give key vocabulary and handy phrases to increase comfort and confidence around the Irish language.

Content

  • Basic classroom Irish.
  • Special needs Irish.
  • Holidays/festivals vocabulary: Christmas/Halloween/St. Patrick’s Day etc.
  • Gaelscoils: Communicating with teachers and the Gaelscoil team, the Gaelscoil interview.

So if you are a SNA and you think: ‘But I haven’t spoken Irish since I was in school’ OR ‘I don’t know a word of Irish’ then this course is for you. It is written and presented by a Special Needs Assistant from West Cork Gaeltacht area who has Primary School and Primary Gaelscoil experience.

Presenter - Terry Kerins
