The Top to Bottom of Junior Cycle Geography Education Webinar Series
In this 6-part webinar series Lee will be covering his top-to-bottom approach of teaching and learning in the Junior Cycle Geography classroom. The aim of the webinar series is to provide teachers with innovative and practical strategies that enhance teacher effectiveness and student engagement in the Junior Cycle geography classroom.
Each webinar in this series is grounded in evidence-based practice and tailored specifically to the needs of the JC Geography specification.
The series is broken down into the six topics. Please note you will need to register for each session individually.
Webinar 3 - Explaining Geographical Concepts to Students - Thursday 10th October @ 7 pm
During this webinar Lee will be discussing his approach to making complex geographical concepts accessible and engaging for students. Lee will explain through explicit examples how he carefully sequences explanations in the JC geography classroom to ensure that the abstract is rendered concrete and that explanations are engaging and leave a lasting impression for students.
This webinar will cover the foundational principles that make an explanation engaging and how to apply it in a wide variety of historical contexts.

Bio of Presenter: Lee O' Donnell
Lee O’Donnell is a teacher of Geography & History at Woodbrook College in Wicklow. He is the Author of ‘The Natural World’ LC Geography book with Edco. Additionally, Lee is the co-author of a Junior Cycle History Book. Geography/History Methodology Lecturer at University College Dublin. LC History content creator for Exam Revision. Host of the Leaving Certificate revision podcast ‘Skin in the Game’. Additionally, he holds an Assistant Principal II post in his school.
