Target Audience: Teachers who are currently or will be teaching Leaving Certificate Irish

This webinar is aimed at teachers who are currently or will be teaching Leaving Certificate Irish. The webinar will focus on the Oral component of the course. It will equip them with teaching resources that they can use in the classroom to promote oral language learning.

Arlene will focus on incorporating a wide range of teaching methodologies to enable teachers to deliver rich, meaningful and interactive lessons revolving around the Irish Oral Exam at senior cycle. She will demonstrate and explain various teaching strategies and examples from her own classroom which will incorporate some use of ICT.

Bio of Presenter: Arlene Conway

Arlene Ní Chonbhuí Headshot

Arlene Conway is a caring and passionate Irish and Geography teacher working in a secondary school in Co Kildare. She strives to ensure her students reach their full potential while creating a positive learning environment. Arlene obtained both her undergraduate degree in Nua-Ghaeilge and Geography as well as her Professional Masters of Education from Maynooth University where she achieved a 1:1. She has also completed a Masters in Scríobh agus Cumarsáid na Gaeilge in University College Dublin.

Arlene has experience of teaching Irish and Geography at all levels from Junior Cycle to Leaving Certificate. She is an Irish oral examiner for several years now. She is a part-time lecturer on the Professional Masters of Education Programme at Maynooth University where she teaches an Irish Methodology module to student teachers.

Arlene has a keen interest in incorporating ICT into classroom methodologies and is part of the Digital Leaders team in her school, where she delivers upskilling to staff and students. She is currently taking part in the Erasmus Plus programme within her school to further enhance and promote ICT.
