Title: CPD for new and returning teachers of Junior Cycle Mathematics (2 hours duration)

Course Content:

This CPD event is aimed at teachers new to Junior Cycle Maths and those returning to teaching Junior Cycle Maths who would like more information on some of the changes to the specification and how it incorporates the framework & impacts their daily practice in the Junior Cycle classroom.

It will outline the key changes in practice required, as well as some of the tools useful in engaging students in Junior Cycle Maths. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • A development of the key pedagogical practices required in Junior Cycle Maths.
  • An outline of the key changes present in the Junior Cycle Maths specification.
  • How to plan effectively in a Junior Cycle Maths classroom. 

Bio:

Barry is a practising maths teacher for the last sixteen years, currently teaching to all levels in Lusk Community College. He has previously worked as an associate for the PDST for two years and a full time Maths Advisor with the JCT Maths team for five years. He has a passion for teaching and learning and loves developing his pedagogical practice.
